CPI Charges former ORPS Employee with Multiple Violations

ALBANY — The State Commission on Public Integrity has charged a former employee of the State Office of Real Property Services (ORPS) with violating the State’s ethics law on four occasions when he appeared before his former agency within two years of leaving State service.
Bruce W. Sauter was a Chief Information Officer for ORPS prior to leaving State service. He is charged with appearing before his former agency on four occasions between October 12, 2006 and February 1, 2007.
Pursuant to Executive Law §94(12)(b), a Notice of Reasonable Cause alleges a violation of the law, but is not a finding that the alleged violation occurred. Because the alleged violations occurred prior to the passage of the Public Employee Ethics Reform Act of 2007, the maximum penalty he can face for each charge is $10,000.
The matter was referred to the Commission by the Office of the State Inspector General. Barry Ginsberg, Executive Director of the Commission, thanked OSIG for its assistance throughout the course of the investigation.
